The Basics: If you’re looking for a place to simply chill… no frills and no thrills, “Bacaro L.A.” is perhaps the way to go. This joint is hidden away in a little neighborhood near USC, and even though it’s small and funky, it offers an outstanding selection of wine, beer, and small savory dishes. “Bacaro L.A.” is definitely an authentic Italian tapas/ wine bar, in part thanks to its simplicity and ease of comfort. The only ifs, ands or buts that you can put on this place is the fact that it’s tiny on the small side. Not only the joint itself, but also the furniture… aside from that, “Bacaro L.A.” está chido pa’l relax.
What to drink: Even though they do serve mixed drinks at this joint, it’s not really their thing. If you want to truly experience “Bacaro L.A.”, you should enjoy some of their wine or beers and ales.
The wine selection is excellent and they have something for all tastes and budgets, the “K&L” wine is a good icebreaker.
Aside from the “regular” beers you’ll find lots of imports like “London Porter”, “Affligem”, and “Pinkus”- organic booze from Germany.
What to eat: Even though in theory “Bacaro L.A.” is an Italian place, their food is more Mediterranean-inspired food meets gourmet pub grub… a baddass combo if executed properly… which fortunately for you, they do at “Bacaro L.A.”
Their bruschetta está como para chuparse los dedos… it’s definitely a must. You get a thick slice of deliciously crisp-on-the-outside/ chewey-on-the-inside toasted bread topped with your choice of heirloom tomatoes and basil, roasted garlic and balsamic, or a white bean concoction. Cualquier opción está deliciosa.
They have burgers, pizza, sliders, a badass hangar steak, and even a scrumptious bread pudding.
