The second edition of Léa-LA, one of the first Spanish-language book fairs of its kind organized to promote reading and Spanish literature among the Los Angeles Latino community, will take place from May 11-13, 2012 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
In addition to the daytime book fair, a music component compliments the festival’s effort to promote Latino culture and arts through live performances, which take place at the Nokia Theater L.A. Live. Mexican pop icon Gloria Trevi has been announced to kick-off the concert series on May 11, followed by Grammy Award winning norteño band Los Tigres de Norte on May 12.
The three-day concert series will conclude with Caribbean and South American rhythms courtesy of the ferocious Calle 13 and Illya Kuryaki & The Valderramas on May 13th. Last year, the event presented Mexican rockers Molotov and Kinky as part of its concert series.
Although admission to the book festival is free, a concert ticket to any of the Nokia Theater L.A. Live performances is required. Tickets for the Gloria Trevi concert are priced from $35+, tickets for Los Tigres del Norte are $40+, and for the Calle 13 and Illya Kuryaki & The Valderramas concert admission starts at $25.
The Gloria Trevia and Los Tigres del Norte concerts will take place at 8:00p.m. and Calle 13 and Illya Kuryaki & The Valderramas will take the stage at 7:00p.m.

Léa-LA is perhaps one of the most ambitious projects executed outside of Mexico by the University of Guadalajara and the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL).
Last year, more than 36,000 people made their way through the events numerous workshops, vendors, and book signings where popular authors including Isabell Allende, Laura Restrepo, and Alberto Ruy Sanchez participated.
Whether you are a book reader or not, Léa-LA presents an interactive, family friendly event with the opportunity to re-visit and explore the Hispanic heritage through literature or music.
