Tarantula’s pencil skirts, “It Girl” dresses and men’s lounge shirts are without a doubt an investment in your wardrobe. After all, you shouldn’t dread the threads that you find in vintage boutiques. And now thanks to entrepreneurs David and Albert, you need not to hem and patch your own thrift store finds in order to dress the part. With over 25 years in the industry and after coming up short in finding threads decent enough to wear or hip enough to dress, David partnered up with Albert and went out on a whim by baking their own threads. “When David would go to thrift stores looking for vintage clothing, he found that much of it was either really expensive or was in a ridiculously tiny size,” states Cherrie “but at Tarantula we have sizes from a small to 3X for men and 2X for women, and we also carry specialty pieces catered to our plus size women and all at a price range from $40 to $150.”

But Tarantula Clothing isn’t your pretty in pink vintage boutique. No ma’am! With hip hugging cigarette skirts to show off your bodacious classy chassis, these threads are sure to get you turning heads. The waist cinching capri’s, cropped jackets, and reversible plunging neckline tops that trademark this store will have your baby drooling on the spot. But no need to have him in ragged threads, Tarantula Clothing also carries items for that daring devil of yours. Hollywood Tees and weekender jackets make up this babies line and when accompanied by your devils guns, they are sure to cause afternoon traffic on any given time of day.

Internationally Speaking

Tarantula’s “World Famous Sex Kitten Capri’s” are their biggest sellers that reign so radioactive that even hep cats in Netherlands, Switzerland, England and Canada are snagging a pair or two. “We sell wholesale to companies literally all over the world. We sell directly to every day consumers, to mom and pop joints in different places of the world as well as to larger stores,” states Cherrie, who first took part of Tarantula Clothing as a part-time employee but now oversees the boutique and is involved in almost every aspect of the company. “We’re huge in Europe and Canada, but we also do great things for the L.A. rockabilly scene, the rockabilly scene in general and for the community as well. We go to shows to support local bands and we’re even planning on having jive classes for kids at the store.”

Keeping ankle-bitters off the street and keeping them looking foxy in their threads is a heavy role to take on, but that doesn’t seem to put a damper on Tarantula. Participating in the Las Vegas Magic Marketplace trade show, Tarantula Clothing will represent the rockabilly lifestyle among other fashionistas. “We have new dresses coming out that no one has seen yet, and we have plans to open a store on the east coast sometime in the future…maybe in New York,” states our girl Cherrie “we’re all about creating a positive message and about making people look good.”

Located in the Boyle Heights area of Los Angeles where many big daddy’s, cool cats and ankle bitters feel the trend, the Tarantula Clothing store is open 5 days out of the week to service and razzle your berries.
