Day of the Dead

From pre Columbian times, the Day of the Dead has been celebrated in various Latin american countries. It's the day when the living remember the departed with offerings and altars made in their honor. According to AlBorde.com tradition, it's also the time to commemorate the occasion with music, food, freebies and plenty of strangers to dance your booty with.
What can we say? It's how we do and how we roll.
Presented by Ford of Southern California, El Clasificado and Al Borde, the 2010 Al Borde Day of the Dead event welcomes people of all ages, sexual preference, wheat or white, paper or plastic, over or under, to join the festivities this upcoming Tuesday, November 2nd at East Los Angeles' El Gallo Plaza.
Sponsored by Jack Daniel's, Monster Energy Drinks, Wells Fargo, Pepsi, Manzanita Sol and Kas Más, and Verizon Wireless, this year's Dia de los Muertos event is being put into full throttle with a live performance by Latin band, La Santa Maria, whose nueva cumbia-son when paired with Jack Daniel's and Monster Energy Drinks, should give for some good ol' times. Yepa! Yepa!

Aside from the musical showcase and sponsor samplings, an art show curated by resident Steven “Chatismo” Amado and altar display created by local artists will décor the wall of the once funeral home, adding the artistic touch to the now six year-running event. DJ Cheebo will also be in the mix, spinning his fusion of cumbia, psychedelic and Latin grooves. Arriba! Arriba!
Vendors will also be on site with their best Day of the Dead clothing, accessories, jewelry, and knick knack to sell to the general public. So bring cash, bring your family & friends, your dancing shoes (of course), and your booty shaking moves to Al Borde's 6th annual Dia de los Muertos Music & Art festival for a night of music, food, and plenty of dark corners to get lost in.
Check out the videos to our past Dia de los Muertos events and RSVP to this free, all ages festival now.
See you on the dance floor, or in a dark corner of the venue. Wa-shoush!
